Newcomers Holiday Project
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa!!
Our Holiday Project will be done in conjunction with Grace Centers of Hope, a non-profit organization that provides housing, meals, and services to help people who are struggling with homelessness, addiction, and poverty. This year we have adopted their Children’s Center.
Nine club members visited the Children’s Center and came away touched by the great work the staff was doing and very impressed by the facility! We met with Chelsea and Jessica from the Children’s Center who gave us some ideas on how our club could help. They expressed needs for the Birthday Closet where each child gets to pick a toy/game for their birthday, classroom supplies, extra hats & mittens/gloves, playground toys, etc.
Our Club will donate $150 to the project. If you are interested in adding to the club’s donation, gift tags will be available at most Newcomer events through December 16. Take a tag and purchase the gift! If neither Michele B. or Kathy M. is at your event, please give your gift to the hostess and we will collect it from her. If you will not be attending an event or would like a tag sooner (Black Friday sales are coming!) please call Michele or Kathy (leave a message if we don’t answer) to receive a specific item to purchase. We can then take that item off the list.
- NO wrapping is necessary! Please do not wrap your gift.
- Please ATTACH the tag to the gift
- Remember to keep your sales receipt for your tax records
- Please no gift cards/certificates
- Gifts may be brought to any event, dropped off at Kathy or Michele’s home or call them for pickup. All gifts are DUE by MONDAY, December 16th
If you don’t have time to shop but still want to help, monetary donations are gladly accepted. You can either (1) drop off cash or a check made out to “Troy Newcomers Club” with “Christmas” in the memo at an event; (2) mail a check to Troy Newcomers, P.O. Box 103, Troy, MI 48099 or (3) donate with PayPal by clicking on the Donate button below. All monetary gifts are DUE by MONDAY, December 16th. Monies will be used to purchase unclaimed tags and larger gifts like a sandbox kit, classroom rug, carpet cleaner, etc.
Kickoff will be at our luncheon on Thursday, November 21 at Grand Tavern. If you have any questions, need a gift tag, or would like to make arrangements for a pickup, please contact one of us. If we don’t see you at an event, we wish you a very Happy and Healthy Holiday Season.

Last March our recording secretary, stated in our newsletter, “As a group, we can be proud of the organizations and families we have helped along the way. We are NOT just a social club. We are a group of women joining together with the common goal of meeting new people, helping others and having fun as we do it.”

Rose Awards
Each month, September through May, White Rose Awards are given in appreciation to members serving on the board who have made an outstanding contribution to our club. In addition, Red Rose Awards are given in appreciation to members not serving on the board who have also made significant contributions to our club. Troy Newcomers Club is truly grateful for the time these women take out of their busy schedules and the extraordinary effort they put forth on behalf of our club.
