Book Club
Please join us at the January 15 meeting, hosted by Monica D. Her book is From Scratch: a memoir of love, Sicily and finding home by Tembi Locke. A poignant and transporting cross-cultural love story set against the lush backdrop of the Sicilian countryside, where one woman discovers the healing powers of food, family, and unexpected grace in her darkest hour.

Evening/Couples Euchre
Join us on December 7, 2024 at 6:45pm. Let’s have fun at the home of Mary Ann D. and play euchre. Email Mary Ann and let her know you are coming. Thank you to Darcel C. for hosting the November euchre party!
We still need a hostess for January, so please contact Darlene G.
We ask that you bring any alcohol you would like to drink and a dish to share with the group. We will start at 6:45pm and take time to socialize and eat our food. Then it is time to play euchre. We always play on a Saturday night and in the comfort of someone’s home. We ask that you email the hostess and let her know if you are coming and if you will bring an appetizer or a dessert. Oh, one more thing- it will cost you $5.00 to play, and we do play for prizes.

Ladies Bowling
Bowling season has started at the Troy Escape Bowling Alley on Square Lake Road, just west of John R. We bowl every Thursday morning from 9:15 to about 11:45. If you’re interested, we can always use more subs.

Ladies Daytime Euchre
We are playing this month on Tuesday, December 17 at 9:15 am at the home of MaryAnn D. She lives in Troy, see directory for her address. Please RSVP to MaryAnn by Saturday, December 14. If you are not a regular hostess, let MaryAnn know if you would like to bring a breakfast item.
We are beginner friendly, so if anyone new is interested in coming, we can teach you, let us know.

Mah Jongg
CHANGE OF DATE ALERT!!!! Morning mah jongg (9:30 am) will be on December 6th at the home of Jane E. We will decide dynamically if we want to play on December 27th at 1 pm. If you think you might be interested, make sure you are on Jane’s email list for mah jongg.

Meadow Brook Ushering
“I gotta cut loose..FOOTLOOSE” Ushers, I don’t know about you but this is the play I have been waiting for this season! Music and dancing to start the year off right. TNC will be ushering January 22 to 26, 2025! So, get ready to have some fun.
On a serious note, one of our long-time ushers and leads has retired. That leaves our Wednesday afternoon light on ushers. Please consider joining the Wednesday team at 2 PM for each play. WE NEED YOU! Please contact Marie H.

Scrapbooking
There is no scrapbooking date planned for the month of December. Have fun making some new memories to scrap in the New Year.

Wine Tasting
If you are interested in trying some new wines, enjoying good conversation, sampling a selection of appetizers and pot luck type dishes and attending a festive holiday party, consider attending a wine tasting evening. The December wine tasting will be held on Saturday, December 21 at 6:30pm hosted by Martha B. Please RSVP to Martha by Wednesday, December 18, if you plan to attend.
Each wine tasting evening is hosted by a Troy Newcomer member. The members attending may bring a spouse or friend, along with an appetizer, their wine glasses and $10 per wine drinker which will contribute to the cost of the wine. Those who do not drink wine are welcome to attend contributing an appetizer but are not asked to pay the $10. The hostess chooses the wines she would like to serve. The hostess supplies the coffee and desserts. The wine tasting is held once a month on a Friday or Saturday evening of the hostess’s choice beginning at 6:30 pm. If you would like to attend a wine tasting evening and do not drink wine, feel free to bring your own beverage.
