Book Club

Ladies Morning Euchre
Thank you, Maryann L. for hosting in October!! We are playing this month at the home of Eileen W. on Friday, November 14 at 9:15 am. Eileen lives in Troy, see directory for her address. Please RSVP to her by Tuesday , November 11. If you are not a regular hostess, let Eileen know if you wish to bring a breakfast item for that day.
We are beginner friendly and can teach you how to play, just let the hostess know so we can take that into account. We still need a hostess for January, February, April and May!!!

Ladies Game Night (Girls’ Night Out)
Game Night is a fun-filled night of beginner games that the hostess chooses. Each month we have a hostess. she picks the date and games to play. Light refreshments are served. It is asked if you attend regularly but do not host you offer to bring something to help the hostess. Lots of laughs and some light competition are had by all. This month, Darcel C. will host on November 11 at 7:00. Please let Darcel know if you are able to attend.
We will not be meeting in December.

Ladies Pickleball
We are a few weeks into the First Session and so far, so good! Gals are enjoying the play and getting better every week.
The 2nd Session will start on December 10th and run for 6 weeks (no pickleball on Christmas Eve or New Years Eve) through January 28th. We play at the First United Methodist Church of Troy, 6363 Livernois, on Wednesdays from 1:00-3:00 pm. If you are interested in playing the 2nd Session, please let me know by November 24 as the roster & cost will be set soon after that. Specific details for 2nd Session will be communicated to those on the roster. Please note, because the cost of playing is determined by the cost to rent the gym divided by total number of players, if you make the commitment to play you are responsible for the whole session whether you attend or not. The fee is due no later than the first week of play. If you are a regular player and cannot play on a date, please contact the gals on the sub list to see if someone is available to play in your spot. As always, we will train new players and there are paddles available to use if you don’t have one. If you would like to play but can’t make a regular commitment, please contact me about joining the sub list. Let’s all get pickling!!
Mah Jongg
Carpe diem! Seize the day! In this case the day is November 14 which will be our only mah jongg play date for the month. (For some reason the day after Thanksgiving never really works out.) The time is 9:30 am, the place is Jane E.’s house. All are welcome and, if you’d like the reminder she’ll send out the Monday before, make sure you’re on her email list.

Meadow Brook Ushering
There is no play in November but get ready for the always well attended “A Christmas Carol” in December! We will be ushering the 4th week of the play instead of the 3rd, so Dec. 10th through the 14th. Remember our ushering dates are unique for this play so please check your assignments. The December Newsletter will have reminders for the updated dates and times and they are also on the Usher Schedule you have already received. Please remember to get a sub if you cannot attend a scheduled performance.

Scrapbooking
We will be meeting on Monday, November 24th at The Scrapbook Tree 48099 Van Dyke Ave. for their shop and crop from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. The cost is $10 or you can purchase a minimum of $10 in products. You are welcome to bring a lunch or snacks. You can also bring other crafting projects, if you are not a scrapbooker. Or come and learn about preserving your memories in a creative format. If you would like to attend, please let Darcel know by email.

New – Widows Group
Our 2nd Widows Group meeting will be held on Tuesday, 12.2.25 from 6:00 pm at the home of Karen G. This meeting will once again be a casual potluck dinner. Our first group meeting was very successful with ten ladies attending. It was decided at our first meeting to gather on a quarterly basis. All those who have lost a partner are welcome. If you would like to participate in this group, please RSVP to Karen. Please state what you will be bringing so we don’t have a lot of duplication. Our December meeting will focus on strategies for the holidays and getting to know one another a little bit more. Let us come together in remembrance, support, and hope.

Wine Tasting
If you are interested in trying some new wines, enjoying good conversation and sampling a selection of appetizers and pot luck type dishes, consider attending a wine tasting evening. Each wine tasting evening is hosted by a Troy Newcomer member. Wine Tasting evenings are held once a month. The members attending may bring a spouse or friend, along with an appetizer, their wine glasses and $10 per wine drinker which will contribute to the cost of the wine. Those who do not drink wine are welcome to attend contributing an appetizer but are not asked to pay the $10. Everyone brings their own wine glass. The hostess chooses the wines she would like to serve. The hostess supplies the coffee and desserts. This is held once a month on a Friday or Saturday evening of the hostess’s choice beginning at 6:30pm.
The November wine tasting evening will be on Saturday, November 15. Carol P. will host this event. If you are planning on attending, please contact Carol by November 12. If you will not be drinking wine, please tell Carol when you RSVP.
