Please join us at the August 21 meeting, hosted by Kathie M. Her book is The Forgotten Seamstress, written by Liz Trenow. When Caroline, a  struggling designer, finds a strange quilt with a curious verse embroidered into its lining, she makes a startling discovery and uncovers an extraordinary story.

Please contact Kathie to confirm you will attend. We will meet at 6:30 pm. Find her address within the TNC directory.

Friendship is sewn with love and measured by kindness.

Evening/Couples Euchre

Hello Euchre Players it’s a new season to join in a fun filled night of cards. Thank you, Amy S. for hosting on Saturday, September 14. We will start at 6:45, and I can’t wait to see all of you!

Amy’s house fills up fast, so let her know you are coming.

We start at 6:45 pm, cost is $5 per person, and everyone brings an appetizer or dessert to share. All money is awarded that night for high scores, and low scores get a chance at euchre quarters. Hope to see you there.

We’re an intermediate group and welcome new people. If you’ve played Euchre before, consider joining us for a fun evening! Contact Darlene G. at clubactivities@troynewcomers.com for more information about this activity.

  Ladies Bowling

Ladies Bowling League 2024 – 2025: We are happy to announce that we will be bowling again starting Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the Troy Escape Bowling Alley on Square Lake Road, just west of John R.

We bowl in teams of three (3). Teams are assembled based on One Low, One Medium and One High bowler per 3-person team. For returning bowlers, we use the ending average of the prior season to determine rank. New bowlers, without an average, are considered Low bowlers, unless you have an established average. The weekly price for bowling is $12 per bowler. Subs pay $9.75 and the absent bowler pays the difference for that week. Please make checks payable to Troy Escape.

Bowling continues until Thursday, April 24, 2025. We have November 28, 2024, December 26, 2024 and January 2, 2025 off for holidays. The last day to confirm is September 4, 2024, if you will be returning as either a regular bowler or a substitute. We are also looking for both regular bowlers and subs to join our league.

To confirm that you will be returning, or to join as a new regular or sub, please contact Bobbie F. Additional details and team rosters will be sent out prior to starting the league.

We look forward to seeing you on September 19th!

Ladies Game Night (Girls’ Night Out)

Ladies Game Night is a fun filled night with friends and some light competition. Each month that we have a hostess, they get to pick a date and the games to play. It ranges from cards, dominoes, board games, charades, and some new ones the hostess finds. Light refreshments are served. We ask that if you regularly attend but don’t host you offer to bring something to help out the hostess.

There will be a sign up sheet for monthly hostess to sign up at Kick Off Night. If you would like to host but can’t attend, please contact Jill M. to get on the schedule. Looking forward to seeing everyone at Kick Off and having a fun season.

If you would like more information about Game Night, please contact Jill M. or e-mail clubactivities@troynewcomers.com.

Mah Jongg

As we move into August and the summer is winding down, you may want to try something new to break up the beach, pool, and sun routine. (It’s also a good idea to get out of the sun on a regular basis!) How about coming to mah jongg on Friday, August 9 at 9:30 am and/or Friday, August 23 at 1 pm. We will be meeting at Jane E’s.

Please let Jane know if you plan to attend or need directions to her house.

Please e-mail Jane at clubactivities@troynewcomers.com for more information about mah jongg.

Wine Tasting

If you are interested in tying some new wines, enjoying good conversation and sampling a selection of appetizers and pot luck type dishes, consider attending a wine tasting evening.

Each wine tasting evening is hosted by a Troy Newcomer member. The members attending may bring a spouse or friend along with an appetizer, their wine glasses and $10 per wine drinker which will contribute to the cost of the wine. Those who do not drink wine are welcome to attend, contributing an appetizer but are not asked to pay the $10. The hostess chooses the wines she would like to serve and supplies the coffee and desserts. This is held once month on a Friday or Saturday evening of the hostess’s choice beginning at 6:30pm.

For additional information, please contact Ann B. or e-mail clubactivities@troynewcomers.com

If you would like more information or have ideas on additional activities for the Club, please send an email to clubactivities@troynewcomers.com.
